Mordroc the Magician is the main antagonist in the Dragon's Lair series. He first appears in Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp. He also appears in Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair. He is an evil wizard who kidnaps Princess Daphne to force her into marriage and enslave her with the Death Ring.
Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp[]
Mordroc appears in some levels of the game to taunt Dirk the Daring and avenge Singe's death, as in the Prehistoric era and in Ancient Egypt, appearing as a mummy after Dirk thought it was Daphne.
In the final level of the game, Mordroc puts the Death Ring on Daphne's finger, which transforms her into a monster (unless Dirk collects treasures), but she is saved when Dirk gets the ring off her and throws it to Mordroc. He turns into a bloated monster who gets killed soon afterward by Dirk's sword.
Dragon's Lair III: The Curse of Mordread[]
Mordroc doesn't appear. However, he was mentioned by his twin sister Mordread who wants revenge him.
Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair[]
A reinterpretation of events from the original arcade game orchestrated by Mordroc. According to this reboot game, Mordroc is the main villain, and Singe is only his sidekick. He was imprisoned long ago, after being defeated by magic arrows, and his minions took the Dragon Essences for themselves. It was he who ordered Singe kidnap Princess Daphne.
Mordroc plays an extended trick on Dirk the Daring in the early stages of the game by making him think he is receiving direction communication from Daphnethrough a magical amulet. The sound-alike voice of Daphne provides hints and gameplay instructions to the player but may also complain if the player spends too much time collecting treasures. Once Dirk defeats Singe, a nearby mirror soon reveals he has not rescued Daphne but has been tricked by Mordroc and must continue his mission. In the game's climactic battle, Mordroc transforms into a Black Dragon but is ultimately defeated by Dirk.
After Mordroc is defeated, Daphne emerges and embraces Dirk for a kiss. Mordroc still lives, and uses his remaining magical energy to zap the backside of the unsuspecting Daphne, who reacts in surprise by biting Dirk's lip. The comical scene brings amusement to the defeated wizard, but Dirk and Daphne ultimately ignore him and continue their embrace.
